Permanent

Full time or Part time (0.8 FTE over 4 days)

For September 2026 or January 2027

The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London. The School’s facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to learn and work. The students at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support and outstanding examination results are achieved.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well-qualified Teacher of German to join the school on a permanent basis from 1 September 2026 or 1 January 2027, in either a full time or part time (0.8 FTE over 4 days) capacity. The successful candidate will be an inspirational teacher who encourages a deep and scholarly engagement with the subject whilst focusing on excellent levels of achievement for pupils of all ages.

German is studied by all students in Year 7, and thereafter as a popular option in Years 8 and 9. Students then have the opportunity to continue studying the subject at IGCSE, and in the Sixth Form, German is offered at both A Level and as part of the IB Diploma (Standard and Higher Level). Numbers are particularly strong at Key Stage 3 and IGCSE, reflecting a growing interest in German across the pupil body.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach German up to and including A Level and Higher Level in the IB Diploma, and to prepare students for university admissions. Prior experience of teaching the IB is not essential and training will be provided. The ability to teach an additional language (French or Spanish) would be desirable, and candidates should include details of any relevant experience in their written application. We would welcome applications from ECTs as well as from more experienced teachers.

Both curricular languages and extra-curricular activities are highly popular within the large Modern Foreign Languages faculty. Students at Godolphin are talented linguists and there is a strong focus on skills development and independent learning. All members of the faculty contribute to the thriving extra-curricular programme at the school.

The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.

Accommodation may be available for new staff in a local six-unit property.

All staff working in the School during the school day will have contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. As a teaching member of staff you will be working directly with, and be responsible for, the children that you teach. You are also likely to have contact with other pupils on a regular basis [which may include specific pastoral or other responsibilities for pupils whom you do not teach.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
