There is a strong focus on skills development and independent learning and high importance is placed on hands-on practical work.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-qualified and inspirational Biologist to join the school on a fixed purpose (maternity cover) contract, from 24 February 2025 (an earlier start might be considered if preferred) up to the working day before the permanent post-holder returns. The post-holder will teach across the school either on a full time basis or 4 days per week. The ability to work successfully as a member of an enthusiastic and proactive team, with an energetic and willing approach, is essential.

The ability to teach up to GCSE and A Level and/or IB is essential. Experience of teaching the IB, and/or experience of supporting applications to highly competitive university courses, would be desirable. We currently teach OCR Biology at A Level and Edexcel IGCSE at GCSE.

All members of the department play a role in the extensive extra-curricular life of the faculty and our students enjoy participating in a wide range of additional activities, in a stimulating and fun learning environment. All staff are expected to contribute to the thriving extra-curricular programme on offer at the School.

The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.

All staff working in the School during the school day will have contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. As a teaching member of staff you will be working directly with, and be responsible for, the children that you teach. You are also likely to have contact with other pupils on a regular basis which may include specific pastoral or other responsibilities for pupils whom you do not teach.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
