Streatham & Clapham High School (SCHS) seeks to appoint an outstanding Higher Level Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join our Learning Support department for a fixed period of maternity cover.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic, forward-thinking and child-centred Learning Support team and play a key role providing specialist support, predominantly to Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils. Responsibilities will include in class assistance and leading small group sessions focused on numeracy, mathematics and general organisation and study skills.
Intervention sessions reinforce and consolidate key skills, focusing on improving student access to the curriculum and supporting individual learning needs. We have a small number of students with dyscalculia who need more significant levels of support.
The role requires liaison with class teachers to identify gaps in knowledge and the planning and delivery of personalised sessions in our Learning Support room. Progress and interventions are reviewed every half term. The role also includes providing general administrative support within the department.
Ideally, you’ll have prior experience of supporting pupils in a senior school setting, along with a calm, empathetic manner and a strong commitment to inclusive education. However, the role would also be well suited to a graduate seeking valuable experience before pursuing a career in teaching.
