St Catherine’s seeks to appoint a Post Graduate Assistant Teacher (PGAT) with a specialism in Computing to join our Teaching Staff and Boarding Staff Team from September 2026 to July 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the school during a period of continued modernisation and development, and to gain first‑hand experience of teaching, pastoral care and the wider life of a thriving boarding school.

The Role

As a PGAT, you will be resident in staff accommodation and an integral member of the Boarding Team, supporting the day‑to‑day running of both the Senior and Prep Schools (Primary and Secondary phases).

PGATs play a key role in the academic, pastoral and co‑curricular life of the school. The position is ideal for enthusiastic graduates considering a future career in education, youth work, coaching or pastoral care, and who are keen to contribute fully to a busy and supportive school community.

A specialism in Computing / Computer Science will enable the successful candidate to contribute to teaching and learning up to GCSE level, alongside wider digital and enrichment activities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Be focused on safeguarding pupils at all times
• Deliver a small number of Computing or Computer Science lessons up to GCSE level
• Support teaching and learning through lesson assistance and preparation
• Undertake a full duty evening once a week in a designated boarding house, working under the guidance of the Head of House or House Parent
• Provide emergency cover for boarding houses when required
• Supervise pupils during the school day across both the Senior and Prep Schools
• Organise or assist with boarding house activities on designated weekends
• Provide administrative support for staff in a designated area
• Participate in the school’s co‑curricular programme and assist with a variety of extra‑curricular activities
• Take part in day trips, residential trips, Activities Week in July, and occasional trips during school holidays where opportunities arise
• Undertake other duties as reasonably required by the Deputy Head (Community, Culture and Boarding) and Deputy Head (Academic)

Some positions may be restricted to female applicants due to the requirement for overnight, one‑to‑one pastoral care within boarding houses.
