An exciting opportunity has arisen at Queen Mary’s for a Physical Education Teacher to join our thriving independent girls’ school as Maternity Cover, with a wonderful co-educational Nursery and Pre-Prep, situated between Ripon and Thirsk.

Physical Education is at the heart of school life; we offer an independent wide-ranging curriculum, excellent teaching and a clear understanding of learning potential, within excellent sporting facilities. The candidate will be a dynamic individual who will motivate pupils within a busy and exciting Sports programme, bringing energy to this thriving PE Department as a proactive team player. The Physical Education teacher will be expected to teach children of all abilities from Reception - Year 11, across a breadth of sports, including Hockey, Netball, Cricket, Athletics and Swimming. The academic life and co-curricular sporting of the School is overseen by the Deputy Head and Director of Sport, who ensure an up-to-date and challenging curriculum is in place. On-going relevant and measured assessment is essential and pupil progress is tracked to inform future teaching and learning goals. Above all, Queen Mary’s believes that the learning process must be enjoyable and engaging. Teaching and learning are supported by a wide range of resources and extra-curricular activities, including sports clubs and additional coaching sessions. The ethos and values foster an enthusiasm for lifelong learning and encourage independence of thought, as well as a balanced approach to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The children develop self-esteem, a wide range of knowledge and essential communication, team and life skills as they progress and thrive on the sporting field.

Reporting to: Director of Sport Start Date: 4th January 2027 Salary will be paid for this role depending on experience and qualifications Maternity Cover - Fixed Term Contract until 3rd July 2027 (Extension to be reviewed in April 2027)
