Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and well-qualified coach to join the Francis Holland’s Sports Department in a vibrant and forward-thinking environment. We welcome applicants from diverse sporting backgrounds, particularly those with experience in coaching one or more of our core sports, including netball, football, hockey, cricket and/or tennis.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of an innovative curriculum and co-curricular programme, helping pupils progress across all areas of sport and physical wellbeing. The coach will be expected to actively contribute to the co-curricular sports programme, ensuring pupils receive high-quality coaching and opportunities for competitive play. While the successful candidate will primarily be involved in the afternoon curriculum and co-curricular programme, including day tournaments, afterschool training, and weekend fixtures, there may also be opportunities to contribute to the curriculum PE lessons in the morning.

Person Specification

Requirements:

  • Coaching qualifications in one or more sports.
  • Commit to a minimum of three training sessions and/or afterschool fixtures per week.
  • Attend approximately three to five Saturdays per term for fixtures and events.
  • Take part in school trips and sports tours, both during and outside of school hours/holidays.

Qualities:

  • Experience coaching to a high level in at least one of our main sports.
  • Experience/qualification in umpiring/referring in one of our main sports.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
  • A proactive, adaptable and innovative approach to coaching.
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including availability for day tournaments, after-school training, fixtures, and weekend commitments.
  • An innovative coach who brings creativity and adaptability to their practice, while fully understanding and supporting the school's approach to behavior and pastoral matters, ensuring a positive and supportive environment for all students.
  • Experience with working in a school setting.
