Channing School is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Teacher of Mathematics to join our thriving Senior School from September 2026.
This is a full-time role teaching across Year 7 to A level, offering the opportunity to contribute to a highly successful and forward-thinking Mathematics department within an intellectually vibrant all-girls environment.
Mathematics is a popular and academically strong subject at Channing, with large numbers progressing to A level and Further Mathematics each year. The successful candidate will teach across the age and ability range, inspiring pupils to think deeply, persevere through challenge and develop genuine mathematical confidence. There will be opportunities to support students preparing for STEP, MAT and other enrichment pathways, as well as to contribute to competitions, masterclasses and wider mathematical pursuits.
Channing is a collaborative learning community with a strong whole-school focus on ambitious and inspirational teaching. Our Principles of Great Teaching and Trusted Techniques provide a shared professional language, grounded in educational research and collective expertise. Central to our approach is the Learning Pit, recognising that deep learning comes through productive struggle and supported perseverance. We are looking for a teacher who embraces this philosophy and is committed to developing Fearless Learners in their classroom.
The Mathematics Department is forward-looking and digitally confident. Technology is fully integrated into teaching and learning, with pupils using iPads, Chromebooks and laptops across the year groups. The department makes extensive use of the Google Suite and other interactive tools to enhance learning, and there is strong support for professional development in digital pedagogy.
We are seeking a reflective and knowledgeable teacher with a strong understanding of the 11 to 18 curriculum and a track record of securing excellent outcomes. The successful candidate will be committed to high standards of scholarship and classroom practice, attentive to the needs of individual pupils, and willing to contribute fully to the co-curricular and pastoral life of the school, including the role of Form Tutor.
Channing is rooted in a Unitarian ethos that values intellectual curiosity, open-mindedness and respect. We are proud of our inclusive and purposeful community, where girls are known as individuals and encouraged to develop confidence, character and a lifelong love of learning. Our most recent ISI inspection in November 2025 endorsed the strength of our provision.
